Meal Prep System publishes storage times, temperatures and handling guidance. Wherever a duration or a temperature appears on this site, we cite the source it comes from — normally the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service or the US Food and Drug Administration. We do not invent numbers, and we do not round them to make them tidier.
Those figures are still general guidance, and general guidance cannot see your kitchen. A published timeline assumes a refrigerator that genuinely holds 40 °F (4 °C) or below, food that was fresh when it went in, cooling that happened fast enough, and a container that actually seals. Change any one of those and the number changes with it.
No article on this site is a substitute for your own judgement or for professional advice. When food looks, smells or feels wrong, throw it out, whatever a chart says. If you are pregnant, immunocompromised, very young, elderly, or caring for someone who is, follow the advice of a qualified professional over anything published here. Nothing on this site is medical, dietary or nutritional advice, and reading it creates no professional relationship of any kind.
If you believe a figure published here is wrong, tell us. Corrections are made quickly and noted on the page.
